We headed back home with hopes to keep Noah entertained. He has gotten very tired of riding in the car and tomorrow we head to the Dr. for his 4 month shots.

Dr. Pepper anyone. I had no idea that Waco is the place it was made or better yet invented. The original Dr. Pepper. We had Dr. Pepper floats and found out fun trivia. I thought of all my Kenyan peps as I ate it.

- Why were soda fountain workers called soda jerks?

because they jerk the handle of the draft arm to put carbonated water into the sodas.

-What will you get if you say "shoot me a waco?"

A Dr. Pepper, in the early years everyone just called them a WACO because that is where if was invented.

-What do you call the drink with Dr. Pepper and vanilla ice cream?

A Frosty Pepper.

Baba Ben and Mama Ashley

We drove over to see our friends in Waco. They are at school at Truett Seminary at Baylor University. We had so much fun touring the campus and actually got to see the real mascots. They Baylor Bears. They were out and roaming around in their habitat. We ate at a cute downtown place called the Olive Branch and stopped by the bookstore. Mostly we spent time with Noah and picked up right up where we left off.

Old Pecan Street Festival

We went to downtown Austin to the Old Pecan Street Festival. It is basically a street market area with lots of bands, fair type food, and lots of TX cutlure. We had a blast walking around and seeing all the booths. Noah was so hot and Drew and I felt like bad parents because we forgot the stroller, the sunscreen, and his hat. So he was fashionable in his burp cloth. The last picture is Noah in the car stripped of his clothes and loving it. He was so sweaty.

Georgetown, TX

Sept, 25 2009












We headed to Georgetown to see our friends Justin and Michelle. Justin has been in Zambia and Michelle in Tanzania for the past 2 years so we had a lot of catching up to do. They now live and teach in the area. They got to meet Noah and we had lots of time to exchange stories of our lives for the past years. We went to Zilker Botanical Gardens on Saturday and walked around. Although the rain and cooler temps had subsided in this part of TX we did have fun in the heat.

Cooper's

We had the best time eating messy wet ribs. Cooper's Old Time BBQ was the best ribs Drew says he has every eaten. Noah seemed to me mesmerized with them also. He wanted a taste I am sure. At this place they open this huge BBQ pit and you pick the meat you would like, they cut of a huge hunk and dip in sauce, then you take it inside and they weigh it, slice it, and you can pick from potato salad, cole slaw, dill pickles, cobbler, and anything else to eat. It was great then you put your butcher paper on the table and get to business. Noah did make a mess of me after spitting up on me several times he then proceeded to put out his hand and grab the cup of baked beans and pull them off the table covering my pant leg. MMMMMMMM!!!!!

Texas or BUST !!!!

We are headed to Texas to visit lots of friends and to experience some TX culture. We just had to get Noah out of the car seat for a while and walk around the visitors center. At this point in his life he hates the car seat and really bucks when he has had enough.





First we visited Uncle Bill and Aunt Mary Dean in Marble Falls, TX. We met their dogs tuffy (maltese) and Rocky (boxer). We had such a fun time sitting on the porch and taking in Texas, we did however bring with us some cooler weather and some much needed rain. It was like old times sitting a telling stories. We have really missed their encouragement and friendship.

1st Ole Miss game

Noah got to experience his first Ole Miss Rebels game at the age of 3 1/2 months. It was definitely memorable for Drew and I because we had to cart him everywhere. It was humid, a 60% chance of rain, muddy. But we did get to see our friends, spend time with family, and see how the campus had changed. We were blessed enough to have box seats this time and of course that meant it did not rain. The cannon that went off everytime we scored a touchdown scared Noah, and he cried at how loud it was, for a little while, then we went inside to watch it on the TV.
